How long will

    it take?

We all have natural psychological

protections in our minds to keep

awareness of painful or threatening feelings,

ideas out of consciousness.  In order to be

more aware, then, one has to work against the tendency in one’s own mind.  Towards that end it helps one to feel comfortable to be able to “take as long as it takes,” to not feel under time pressure.  At the same time, having agreed upon goals in mind makes the process more efficient and keeps the process from getting bogged down.

Generally less than six months is not enough for substantial, lasting change and if it takes more than 5 years, you should be asking why.

(Ask about time-limited contract option.)

How do I know if this treatment is right for me?

The “match” between the two people is just as important as the form the therapy will take.  During the initial interviews each should be assessing the possibilities of collaboratively working together and asking questions freely.

Feel free to call for telephone consultation prior to making an appointment.  It is very private; I’m the only person you’ll talk to.  (612-339-1248)
